Accelerating Workforce Readiness by Eliminating Duplicative EHR Training

The presenters performed a detailed Department of War(DOW)/Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) user role pair analysis, which compared DOW and VA workflows, user-role privileging, and training curricula between the agencies. The analysis revealed 80 to 95% identical roles. Areas where workflows differed were identified, and additional training was provided. A pilot project proved through Lights On data that end users could bypass another agency's end-user training saving 8 to 20 hours per end user.

This session explores the efforts to modernize and standardize military service exposure data to improve interoperability, clinical care, readiness, and research. It highlights Defense Occupational and Environment Health Readiness System – Industrial Hygiene as the DOW’s authoritative exposure data source and interoperability with the Individual Longitudinal Exposure Record to create longitudinal exposure records for more than 11.9 million Service members and Veterans, enabling better identification of latent health risks and more informed decision making.
